Last week our blog featured the many reasons you should Enjoy Labor Day Weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks With Us at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina. Today, we'll give you another quick recap about the upcoming holiday weekend plus tell you about more fun to be had with your favorite waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks this fall. We've got a lot more of this awesome 2019 season left to share with you!  

Labor Day Weekend 2019
Labor Day weekend gives you the chance to take a short break after getting back to work and school following summer vacation. Spending it at the Lake of the Ozarks is the best way to truly feel like that summer isn't entirely over and heading to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is a great place to start.

For the holiday, you can expect the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, as always. One bite and you'll think you're in New Orleans! We'll also have all of those delicious hand-mixed cocktails you've been sipping lakeside over the summer. When you're ready to hop on the boat and get some "lake time" in, the best gas dock at the Lake of the Ozarks is at the end of our dock with everything you'll need for a full day out on the water.

More Fun This Fall

Like we said, Labor Day Weekend isn't the end. Instead, it's the beginning of a string of some of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks coming up in September and October. We expect to keep seeing you here for as long as the weather allows us to stay open this season. Here are a couple of the ways that Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is keeping things interesting.

Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest

September 11-15, 2019, the 13th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest will sweep across the lake area. We're thrilled to be one of the passport stops again this year, so make sure you ride by and get your book stamped by us. In addition to the passport run, there will be live music, awesome giveaways, and even the chance to win a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle! 

As a matter of fact, you can head on over to LakeBikefest.com right now and sign up to win a 2-night Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest Package valued at over $600. Among other awesome prizes, this includes a $50 gift certificate to use at Shorty Pants!

Bogeys & Beer Golf Tournament

On October 10, 2019, you can join us for the 20th Annual Bogeys & Beer Golf Tournament. The day includes box lunches from Mexicali Blues, dinner & awards at our sister restaurant, Dog Days Bar & Grill, lots of silent auction items, and tons of fun at every hole! Keep an eye out for signup information coming soon. All tournament proceeds benefit wonderful local organizations: the Lamb House, Kid's Harbor, the Kiwanis Club, and the CADV. 

Fall Harbor Hop

The always exciting 34th Annual Fall Harbor Hop at the lake on October 12, 2019, is right after our golf tournament. Hop in the boat and get ready to travel all over the lake area picking up cards for your poker hand. Get a good one and win some incredible prizes, but most importantly, you get a great day out on the water with a fun stop at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant.

If you live here, it's no trouble to get to the exciting events listed above, but if you're coming from out-of-town, where in the world can you stay? Well, in the best vacation rental houses at the Lake of the Ozarks, of course. We happen to have 2 of them right next door to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina!

These vacation rental houses both have spectacular lake views, great patios to entertain on, gas grills on the decks, washers and dryers, lots of sleeping room, spacious living rooms, full kitchens, and all the comforts of home! The Glass House offers 1,500 square feet of living space and can easily house up to 8 guests. The Red House boasts 3,400 square feet of living space and can sleep up to 16. 

Call up a few friends and share the house for a week of lake living! We've got dates open this fall, but we expect them to fill up quickly, so don't wait too long to book one.

The Best Gas Dock & Marina
If you're heading to the lake area this holiday weekend, there's a very good chance that boating is a big part of your plans. The very best way to begin your outing on the water is to make a pit stop at the best gas dock & marina at the Lake of the Ozarks - Shorty Pants Marina! 

You'll find us on the 21 MM in Salt Hollow Cove, just a short walk down the dock from Shorty Pants Lounge. We offer 87 Octane, 83 Octane, and Diesel fuel for your watercraft. 

The fully-stocked C-store also has many of the other items you may need to take care of your boat or jet ski like oil, fuel stabilizer, and more. While you're there, pick up a few things to take care of your crew too. 

In addition to housing the cleanest restrooms on the water, you'll find soft drinks, beer, liquor, ice, snacks, t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, personal care products, watersport flags, batteries, and so much more. Say hello to Oscar, our famous dock dog, while you're there and pick up free popsicles for the kiddos, free coffee for the adults, and free dog treats for your 4-legged passengers.

The Taste of New Orleans at the Lake of the Ozarks!

You don't have to make a trek all the way down south to New Orleans to enjoy authentic Creole cuisine. Instead, you'll find the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks smack dab in the middle of Missouri when you dine at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina! If you close your eyes and take a bite of one of our many Cajun creations, your taste buds will have you thinking that you're sitting on Bourbon Street. 

Cajun Inspiration
Our talented chefs use only the most flavorful rubs and spices direct from Louisiana. You'll find all of the Creole cooking staples in our recipes - rice, sausages, seafood, and vegetables - alongside lots of other delicious ingredients, put together masterfully for your dining pleasure. 

There are amazing Cajun dishes throughout our entire menu, from appetizers to entrees, from sandwiches to side dishes, but one section in particular that exemplifies what we can do is our Bourbon Street Eats.

These incredible entrees burst with flavor! Each is served with a garden salad or mini Caesar salad and your choice of French bread or corn muffins. 

Shrimp N Grits

Large shrimp sauteed with Andouille sausage, hickory-smoked bacon, onions, and mushrooms served over our homemade cheddar cheese and jalapeno grits. 

Easy Street Trio

You will love this sweet and spicy blush cream sauce with Andouille sausage, shrimp, and tender chicken served over fresh fettuccine. 

Chicken New Orleans

A blackened chicken breast sauteed with a trio of bell peppers and our Cajun cream sauce served over rice. 

Voodoo Chicken

A spicy, marinated, blackened chicken breast placed over a bed of sauteed onions, peppers, and rice. 

Cajun Alfredo

A mildly spiced Alfredo tossed with fresh fettuccine noodles. Enjoy it with the addition of chicken, shrimp, or a combination of the two.

Crab Cake Pasta

Two delicious handmade shrimp and lump blue crab cakes are placed on a bed of fresh fettuccine with delicious seafood cream sauce. 

Jambalaya

A Louisiana rice-based dish steamed in rich and subtle Cajun spices, Andouille sausage, chicken, and shrimp. For even more flavor, try it "dirty" topped with red beans! 

Red Beans N Rice

This classic dish is seasoned to perfection and served with a link of Andouille sausage. 

Crawfish-N-Shrimp Etouffee

Crawfish and shrimp smothered in a rich creamy etouffee sauce with Creole vegetables served over rice. 

New Orleans Medley

A plateful of our signature entrees: creamy crawfish etouffee, rich jambalaya, red beans & rice, and a half link of Andouille sausage. 

Smothered Catfish

A catfish filet served on a bed of rice and smothered in our crawfish etouffee. Enjoy your catfish either fried or blackened.

Music starts at 6:00 pm during the week and at 7:00 pm on Friday & Saturday. That's perfect timing for you to grab a seat and enjoy a delicious lakeside dinner of the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks. 

Since you'll be thoroughly entertained, you may want to spread the meal out, ordering some appetizers to leisurely enjoy before ordering the main meal. The Healing Box Project - Great Music & a Great Cause

The Healing Box Project is coming to our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant this Saturday, August 3, 2019. Not only are you in for a fantastic night of live music at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina but also the chance to be a part of a wonderful program that spreads joy to veterans through music. 

Making a Difference With Music
Dave Dunklee and his wife CJ were watching Toby Keith on TV back in 2012 and he was asking for donations for the Wounded Warrior Project. They wanted to help out but after a little research found that some of the donations collected went to pay for administrative costs. The couple knew they could do better than that and set out to begin their own completely non-profit volunteer program where everything collected went directly to the veterans. 

They chose to help using their love of music. Dave was a musician for over 50 years, teaching music in public schools for 20 of those years and performing professionally with various bands throughout his life. He now uses that experience and skill to teach guitar to disabled veterans, putting a smile where often there hasn't been one for a very long time.

The Healing Box Project
Dave and CJ decided the name "Healing Box Project" fit nicely coming from a relationship with relic guitars made from box crates or pieces of wooden boxes modified with a pole neck to which strings were attached. For the veterans, the healing begins with their first strum of a guitar. 

This program raises money to purchase guitars and supplies for soldiers to use. While monetary donations are helpful, donations of guitars that people may have lying around the house unused are much appreciated as well. 

Learning guitar helps the disabled veterans with their neurology, improves brain skills, and it takes away some of the stress related to coping with a life-changing injury. It also lets them feel like a part of something. Groups soon become friends and those friends quickly begin feeling like family.

Catch the Concert
The Dunklees drive from the Lake of the Ozarks to Columbia every week to spend an entire day meeting with soldiers. Together the couple travels over 600 miles every month to make sure this project is a continued reality. 

In addition to teaching guitar, Dave still regularly performs as well. You can catch him all over the lake area entertaining, raising awareness, and accepting donations for the Healing Box Project. This Saturday, August 3, 2019, you can enjoy Dave's show at our waterfront Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Tuesdays Rock (& Boil) at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina

Every day is a great day to visit our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant, but on Tuesday nights, it's a little more special than usual. We don't need to wait for the weekend to plan a little fun. Every Tuesday at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina this summer join us for the Cajun cuisine you love... and more!

Crawfish Boil
In addition to our regular menu full of the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, each Tuesday we also host a good old fashioned crawfish boil. We always throw a special crawfish boil for our annual anniversary party and everyone loves those so much, we've incorporated it into a weekly special! 

For just $20, you can order a bucket full of deliciousness! Each bucket will contain 10 shrimp, 10 crawfish, half on andouille sausage, corn, potatoes, and French bread. Add one of our famous Hurricanes to the mix and settle in for a night of great lakeside music to go along with it all!

Signature Hurricanes
We've got a fully stocked bar able to create just about any drink you like, but with a Cajun meal sometimes you need a classic New Orleans cocktail to go with it. That's where our long list of incredible Hurricanes comes in. You'll find an original to rival any recipe you'd find in Louisiana plus a few more variations of our own that are equally as amazing. 

New Orleans Hurricane
Cruzan Dark Rum, Cruzan Light Rum, DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, orange juice, pineapple juice, sour, and Shorty Pants Punch.

Rainbow Sherbert Hurricane
Cruzan Coconut Rum, DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, and DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker all mixed with orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice.

It's AquaPalooza Time at the Lake of the Ozarks!

One of the best annual boating events at the Lake of the Ozarks takes place at our sister restaurant in Osage Beach, Dog Days Bar & Grill. The event we're talking about happens to be the largest single-day boating event in the area - AquaPalooza 2019! 

A quick stop at the gas dock and C-store at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina will stock you up on everything you need for an all-day concert on the water. If you prefer a more laid-back musical experience with a smaller crowd, you'll find more of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks right here on our own Shorty Pants stage. Either way, we've got your weekend entertainment covered! 

AquaPalooza 2019 at Dog Days
AquaPalooza is a FREE lakeside concert featuring 4 incredible bands. Hundreds of boats will fill the cove and thousands of people, both in the water and on dry land, will be there to experience this amazing annual event.

A great big stage is set up facing the lake where the entire cove will be filled with boats in the docks and tied up together beyond that. The water directly in front of the stage will be full of concert-goers floating in the water to enjoy the show.

We showcase amazing music every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 pm and each Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm at Shorty Pants Lounge. With our performers starting in the evening, you could even attend AquaPalooza during the day and head on over to see us afterward!

Stock Up at Shorty Pants Marina
No matter where you decide to go this weekend, if you're heading out on the lake a trip to the best gas dock and marina at the Lake of the Ozarks should be your very first stop. Shorty Pants Marina is located at the 21 MM by water in Salt Hollow Cove (or just a short walk down the dock if you're dining at Shorty Pants Lounge!) 

Here you can gas up your watercraft at our full-service gas dock and stock up on all of your boating essentials. We pump 87 Octane, 93 Octane, and Diesel fuel. 

The C-store is stocked with ice, beer, package liquor, water, soft drinks, snacks, marine supplies, sunscreen, sunglasses, all kinds of cool Shorty Pants gear, and a LOT more. We house the cleanest restrooms on the lake and there are plenty of comfy seats out front if you want to sit and visit for a while.   

This weekend is definitely an exciting one to be in the lake area, but then again, it's pretty amazing around here every weekend! (Most of the weekdays as well!)
