Enjoy the 2016 Gala of Trees at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

Christmas is coming early this year to our sister restaurant, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse! They are the new host for a wonderful annual holiday event at the Lake of the Ozarks - The Gala of Trees - Novebember 17-19, 2016. You can pick up some Christmas decor for your home while helping to make sure that every child in the lake area has a happy holiday. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina has all of the important details right here for you.

The Gala of Trees
The event organizer, Christy Janssen, along with her mother, Pam Leffringhouse, got the idea for this fantastic fundraiser after decorating trees for a similar event in Quincy, Illinois. The way this Lake of the Ozarks version works is like this:
  • Bare Christmas trees and wreaths are donated to the event by Lake Regional Hospital.
  • Businesses and organizations volunteer to decorate the trees and wreaths with unique themes and ornaments.
  • Everyone is invited to come in, view the items, and make a bid in the silent auction to take home the decorated items.
  • The Lake Ozark Rotary's Candyland project and the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club take the money raised to buy Christmas gifts for local children in need.

Same Event, New Home!
Since its beginning, the Gala of Trees was hosted at Bootleggers. The closing of their restaurant offered Wobbly Boots Roadhouse the chance to take on this wonderful holiday event, and they couldn't be more excited!

The whole thing gets started on Thursday night at 5 pm with the great big kickoff party at the Boot. While participation in the silent auction throughout the gala is free, tickets for the kickoff party are $20 each. This includes appetizers and soup, one glass of Gala Punch, and the exclusive chance to win the Gala Christmas wreath that will be given away at 9 pm that evening.

All day and night, both Friday and Saturday, you are encouraged to stop by Wobbly Boots, check out the amazing decorations, and make a bid. On Saturday evening, the highest bidders will be announced. Dale Blue will be onstage Saturday evening to keep you entertained while you wait for the results. If you are a winner, then you are free to take your tree and/or wreath home and put it in a special spot for the holidays.

See you there!
All of us here at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina will be sure to make time to stop by Wobbly Boots Roadhouse and check out the Gala of Trees, and we hope to run into many of you while we're there. After you're done making your bids, head on over to your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and join us for a bit too.

We are still open 7 days a week at 11 am, and there's plenty of seating inside when it's chilly, while the lakeside deck is still open for these unseasonably beautiful days we've been having. See you soon, and happy holidays!

Join Us At The 2016 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction

Some of the lake area's very best chefs will be showing off their culinary skills at the 2016 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, and Shorty Pants Lounge simply had to add our very own amazing chef to that list! This annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks is not only an incredible evening out, but also a wonderful way to raise both money and awareness for an important organization.

The Details
Wednesday, November 9, 2016
Lodge of Four Seasons
5:30 pm

The Event
The highlight of the event is the wonderful meal that all attendees get to enjoy, provided by the many fantastic chefs from around the lake area. Individual tickets are available online, and you are encouraged to sponsor an entire table. Call a few friends and attend together! Business or cocktail attire is suggested for attending the event.

In addition to raising funds from ticket sales, there will also be tables full of awesome silent auction items to bid on, as well as some unbelievable live auction packages, including personal chef dinners and vacation getaways. There are also raffles and their "Fund the Mission" section where voluntary donations are collected. If you are unable to attend but would like to make a donation, you can do that on the Lake of the Ozarks March of Dimes website.

Chef Scott Munsterman & Our Goodies
Your favorite Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is participating in a couple of different ways this year. Not only can you sample our delicious kitchen creations that evening, but you can bid on an incredible dinner package from us too.

Chef Scott is preparing some mouth-watering menu items for the Lake of the Ozarks Signature Chefs Auction this year. First of all, he will have a Smoked Hickory Bacon Pork Tenderloin for everyone at the event to try. That sounds pretty amazing on its own, but he'll also be serving up an unbelievable Bourbon Bacon Cheesecake. The bacon for this delectable dessert is marinated in Tennessee's finest bourbon, but as for the rest of the recipe details, well, that's a heavily guarded secret!

We will also be participating in this year's silent auction. One lucky bidder will have the pleasure of winning a 5-course dinner for up to 8 guests, plus 6 bottles of wine. That sure would be a wonderful holiday gathering for your family and friends, or even an amazing gift to give someone special. The best part is that the money you spend on it will help to save young lives.

The March of Dimes
This organization's mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births, and infant mortality. Prematurity is the #1 reason for newborn deaths. The babies that do survive being born early will most likely face a life full health problems. This affects nearly 23 million babies worldwide every year.

Since 1958, when it was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the March of Dimes has been working to help families make it through the difficulties that premature birth can cause. They use the money raised to invest in research, education, and community services.

Stop By Our Table & Say Hi
Chef Scott and his helpers would love for you to stop and say hello when you visit our table to try a taste of Shorty Pants Lounge's delicious creations for this wonderful event. Your stomach will be thrilled that you decided to attend the 2016 Lake of the Ozarks Signature Chefs Auction, and so will your heart. We hope to see you there.

We've Got the Cajun Flavors of Bourbon St. in Osage Beach!

Get the taste of New Orleans right here in mid-Missouri with the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks. You don't have to travel far to enjoy the flavors of Louisiana when you make a trip to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina.

Cajun Style Cooking
Cajun food is a style of cooking that could be classified as a rustic cuisine. These particular types of recipes are named for the French-speaking Acadian people that made their homes in Louisiana. They used the ingredients that were easy to find in the region to prepare flavors that stood the test of time and people can't get enough of.

Some of the staple items that you will find in Cajun cooking include rice, sausages, seafood, and vegetables. Shorty Pants Lounge's menu is filled with these throughout, but it's especially evident in our Bourbon Street Eats offerings. These dishes feature rubs and spices direct from Louisiana, just like you would encoutner if you visited the French Quarter in person. Here's a look at the amazing Cajun meals we have for you right here in mid-Missouri.

Our Bourbon Street Eats

Crab Cake Pasta
Two delicious handmade shrimp and lump blue crab cakes are placed on a bed of angel hair pasta with delicious seafood cream sauce.

Red Beans N Rice

This classic dish is seasoned to perfection and served with a link of andouille sausage.

Cajun Dining, Inside & Out
In addition to those mouth-watering meals, you will also find a fully stocked bar capable of creating hand-mixed cocktails that complement them perfectly. Your legendary drink choices include muddled Mojitos and Cajun Bloody Mary's. We also have a wonderful selection of wines and the coldest beer at the lake.

You can enjoy waterfront dining at the Lake of the Ozarks when you visit us, but if the fall weather is a bit too chilly, you can sit next to our outdoor fireplace or inside our spacious dining room. Our restaurant is smoke-free indoors, and we have an excellent kids' menu, making this a great place to eat for the entire family.

The next time you are craving a little Creole cuisine, head on over to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina. It's a lot closer than a trip to New Orleans, and it tastes every bit as amazing!

Celebrate National Seafood Month With a Bit of Cajun Flavor

We are known far and wide for having the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, and many of those Cajun dishes feature some type of seafood. Since October just happens to be National Seafood Month, we figured it was an excellent time to highlight a few of the mouthwatering seafood dishes you will find at Shorty Pants Lounge

Seafood is Good For You
Seafood is not only good to eat, but it's good for you. Did you know that there are many health benefits to eating seafood? It is recommended by the American Heart Association that a person should eat fish twice a week to improve heart health. This is mainly due to the high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids found in seafood.

It's also a great source of protein and many other vitamins and minerals. Other benefits for your body of eating seafood are: good skin, a boost in brain power and healthy eyesight, it is good for joint stiffness, and can even decrease depression. In addition to all of that, they way we cook it up, it tastes pretty amazing too!

Shorty Pants Seafood

Big Easy Shrimp
Large gulf shrimp sauteed in Budweiser, rosemary, butter, and a zesty lemon sauce.

Sweet Coconut Shrimp
A mix of sweet coconut combined with crunchy frosted flakes send these huge gulf shrimp over the top! They are served with a sweet raspberry sauce for dipping.

Crab Artichoke Spinach Dip
A mouth watering mixture of spinach, artichoke, and blended cheese, with our own tasty addition of crab. It's served with warm tortilla chips.

Crab Cake Pasta
2 handmade shrimp and lump blue crab meat cakes rolled in seasoned bread crumbs and topped with more shrimp, served in our seafood cream sauce, all atop a bed of fresh fettuccine.

Seared Ahi Tuna
6-oz. of sesame encrusted Sashimi style Ahi tuna, served with sesame ginger dressing and a wasabi cream sauce. You will find this on our starters menu, and also as a sandwich and on top of its own specialty salad.

Asian Shrimp Salad
Fresh greens and crispy cabbage with blackened shrimp, served with a medley of tomatoes, carrots, red peppers, baby corn, slivered almonds, Craisins, and rice noodles, tossed with a toasted sesame ginger dressing. You can also try it with blackened Ahi tuna on top.

Cajun Fried Oysters
Lively, seasoned, hand-breaded, southern fried oysters, served with our house Bloody Mary cocktail sauce.

Crawfish-N-Shrimp Etouffee
Crawfish & shrimp are smothered in a rich, creamy etouffee sauce with creole vegetables and served with rice. If you're in the mood for even more seafood, try the Smothered Catfish, which has this dish poured over the top of a delicious catfish filet.

Catfish BLT
Now you're in the South! A hand-breaded catfish filet served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and our Cajun mayo on a toasted French roll. Available fried or blackened.

Catfish, Oyster, or Shrimp Po Boy
Choose either southern fried catfish, big deep-fried gulf oysters, or hand breaded shrimp for this sandwich with Cajun mayo, lettuce, and tomato.

It's National Dessert Month, Too!
October likes to pack a lot into its 31 days! Top of your Seafood Month celebration at Shorty Pants Lounge with one of our savory desserts.

Bananas Foster
Fresh bananas, thickly sliced and sauteed in our Cruzan Black Strap Rum sauce and topped with vanilla bean ice cream.

Chocolate Bayou Cobbler
A decadent Hershey's chocolate experience topped with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped topping. A must try!

Biegnets
Try this French Quarter favorite, Louisiana's doughnut. Perfectly deep-fried pastry tossed in powdered sugar and served with our house-made sweet raspberry sauce.

We've still got a few great weeks of fall weather ahead of us, so you'll have plenty of chances to visit your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks before our season is over. Don't wait, though, because we want to see you in here as many times as possible before winter's chill sets in. We open for lunch at 11 am, and our Sunday Happy Hour features drink specials on our famous Cajun Bloody Mary's, Screwdrivers, Mimosas, and Margaritas. See you soon!
