Your Spring Harbor Hop Headquarters - Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina!

One highly anticipated annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks - the Spring Harbor Hop - is an unofficial kickoff to the boating season. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is the very best place to both begin and end your hop, plus the perfect place to continue a weekend full of fun! Why you ask? Well, read on friends...

Boating Supplies
For an entire day of boating, you'll need to stock up on the essentials before heading out. We've got the best gas dock and marina at the Lake of the Ozarks for that! We carry 87 Octane, 93 Octane, and Diesel fuel for your boat or PWC, as well as the other items you may need to keep your watercraft running smoothly, such as motor oil and fuel stabilizer.

You'll also find everything you need to satisfy your crew for the day. These items include (but are not limited to) snacks, package liquor, soft drinks, water, ice, suntan lotion, sunglasses, watersport flags, and even Dramamine (just in case!)

Our marina also houses the cleanest restrooms at the Lake of the Ozarks for a pit stop before you begin harbor hopping. If you need a place to park your boat while you're in town, give us a call at 573-302-1004 to check our covered dock slip availability.

Fuel For Your Body
There are more than 40 waterfront bars, restaurants, and marinas participating in this year's Spring Harbor Hop. (Find a full list & details about the event at www.Funlake.com/HarborHop.) We know we'll be seeing you at some point during the day, but we highly suggest either beginning or ending your hop right here with us.

Starting here means you can grab lunch to fill you up before you fill up your boat at our gas dock. Our menu features extraordinary Cajun dishes that taste like they came straight out of New Orleans rather than our mid-Missouri kitchen! We've also got plenty of non-Creole dishes, as well as an incredible kids' menu in case you have any little Harbor Hoppers in your crew. Of course, if you'd prefer to end your hop with those fabulous flavors, grab your final card at our waterfront Cajun restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks and stick around for dinner & a few evening cocktails.

A Comfy Place to Stay
Currently (but you'd better move quickly) our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront vacation house rentals are open for Harbor Hop weekend. We can't say that for a lot of the other big weekends this summer, so if you don't book quickly, you could miss out.

The Glass House is perfect for up to 8 guests and the Red House can accommodate up to 16. That means you and a whole bunch of your fun-loving friends can stay within walking distance of all the excitement happening here at Shorty Pants Lounge, plus have a place to park your boat between hops!

We're looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, May 5 for the Lake of the Ozarks Spring Harbor Hop. (Hopefully quite a few times before and after that too!) The 2019 season at our Lake of the Ozarks Cajun restaurant & bar is off to a great start, and things will just keep getting better and better from here on out!

Delicious Variations on a New Orleans Classic - The Hurricane!

Not only do we serve the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, but we've also mastered quite a few New Orleans-style cocktails, including the classic Hurricane. As a matter of fact, after perfecting the recipe the bartenders at Shorty Pants Lounge came up with some delicious variations that are every bit as incredible as the original.

Shorty Pants Hurricanes
If you are already a fan of the Hurricane, you're sure to enjoy our New Orleans version. We highly recommend giving our others a try too. The all contain rum and fruit juices like you'd expect, but also a few more ingredients that give each drink its own tasty twist.

New Orleans Hurricane
Cruzan Dark Rum, Cruzan Light Rum, DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, orange juice, pineapple juice, sour, and Shorty Pants Punch.

Rainbow Sherbert Hurricane
Cruzan Coconut Rum, DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, and DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker all mixed with orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice.

Spring Hurricane
Cruzan Dark Rum, Light Rum, Coconut Rum, Chambord, orange juice, and pineapple juice.

Freedom Hurricane
Light Rum, DeKuyper Blue Curacao, Korbel Brandy, sour, orange juice, and Shorty Pants Punch.

Hurricane History
The Hurricane is a sweet drink made with rum, fruit juices, and syrup or grenadine. One reason that this cocktail is so very popular in New Orleans is beause they were invented there.

In the 1940s, New Orleans tavern owner Pat O'Brien was looking for a way to get rid of some of the less popular rums on his shelf. Local distributors had forced him to include these in his order before he was able to get a few cases of the more popular liquors his customers preferred.

Once O'Brien came up with a mixture of the rums that he was happy with, he poured the new cocktail into a glass shaped similar to a hurricane lamp and gave it away to the sailors that came into his bar. The drink was a hit, and it has been a mainstay in the French Quarter ever since.

The name hurricane possibly came from the shape of the glass used to serve it. O'Brien's bar allegedly started out as a speakeasy, and the password to get in was "storm's brewin'." That fact also makes naming his drink after a storm very fitting!

Hurricanes are also incredibly popular in the Bahamas, but those are not made the same way as the New Orleans version. If you order a hurricane in the islands, expect a much different flavor. Their drink is made with coffee liqueur, 151 rum, Irish cream, and Grand Marnier.

Not Your Only Option
Although we are extremely proud of the Hurricanes we serve at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant, they are far from your only option for a refreshing cocktail. A few other very popular rum drinks that are masterfully mixed behind our bar include Rum Runners, Pain in the A**, Pina Coladas, and freshly muddled Mohitos. We also serve an amazing Cajun Bloody Mary, carry an extensive selection of wines, and feature many different ice-cold beers, both on tap and in bottles.

Then next time you're in the mood for a refreshing drink, an incredible lake view, and amazing food, head on over to our Lake of the Ozarks Cajun restaurant. We'll take great care of you!

2019 Lake of the Ozarks Events You Don't Want To Miss

Spring in the lake area is just the beginning of a season full of fun on the water! Sure, there are lots of cool things to do and see year-round, but summertime takes the excitement up a notch.

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina realizes that many of you come from out of town, so it's important to know dates for the best events ahead of time. That way, you can be sure to snag one of our lakefront vacation house rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks before they're all booked up.

Currently, we do have a lot of dates filled, but there are a few here and there that are still available. You can check availability online for the Red House and the White House from our website. Here's a look at some of the most popular lake events. Find a few you like (most likely all of them!) and head on over to our website to see if those dates are still open for you. Weekends always fill up quickly, but don't forget, weekdays at the Lake of the Ozarks are pretty awesome too!
