A vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks should be on your list of things to do this year. If you don't already have a home in the area, one of the first things you should take care of is finding a place to stay. Our waterfront vacation rental houses at the Lake of the Ozarks are perfect for groups both large and small and best of all, they are located right next door to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina! 

There are tons of fun things going on around the lake area year-round and especially in the summertime. Making reservations early gives you a much better chance at snagging the most popular dates. The Glass House
Both of our lakefront vacation houses are located in Osage Beach off Hwy. KK on the 21-mile marker. The Glass House contains 1,500 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and the ability to sleep up to 8 comfortably. 

You'll find all the comforts of home, including a washer and dryer, full kitchen, and a gas grill on the 44-foot deck. A courtesy dock is available upon request for your boating needs and we have partnered with BomBay Boat Rentals to bring you the option to rent a watercraft during your stay. Shorty Pants Marina, just down the dock, offers a full-service gas dock and a convenience store.

The Red House

Next door, the Red House also contains all the comforts of home needed to enjoy a relaxing stay plus the same, gorgeous lake views as the Glass House. This property is larger at 3,400 square feet of living space and has two 44-foot decks. There are 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and this house can accommodate up to 16 guests. There is also an apartment-like space detached from the house that we call the "Love Shack."

February Events at the Lake of the Ozarks - Mardi Gras Lake Pub Crawl, Pre-Pub Crawl Concert, & a Gourmet Wine Dinner

February is full of awesome events at the Lake of the Ozarks! The Mardi Gras Lake Pub Crawl is highly anticipated every year and our sister restaurant, Dog Days Bar & Grill, is hosting a concert with two fantastic bands. (Definitely a weekend you do NOT want to miss! Need a place to stay? Our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront vacation rental houses are the perfect place!) 

On top of all that excitement, our other sister restaurant, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, is hosting their final Fireside Chat Dinner for the season in February too. In case you didn't already know, winter at the Lake of the Ozarks can be just as thrilling as summer!  

Concert at Dog Days
Friday, Feb. 7, 2020
The night before the biggest party at the Lake of the Ozarks, Dog Days Bar & Grill will be open for another one of their off-season, one-night-only concerts! The event will be filled with incredible drinks, lots of dancing, and the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks. The perfect warm-up party before the Lake Pub Crawl. 

Doors will open at 7:00 pm with music beginning at 8:00 pm. The Grasshopper Unit and their tribute to the Beastie Boys will get the action started. That will be followed by the face-melting 80s metal band, Machine Gun Symphony. Tickets can be purchased right now at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse for just $10 each. On show night, they'll be $15 at the door at Dog Days Bar & Grill.  

Mardi Gras Pub Crawl
Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020
After a night full of partying at the Dog, you can sleep in on Saturday because the Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl doesn't start until 4:00 pm. That should give you plenty of time to rest up and start the party all over again! This is the one night mid-winter that the lake area is nearly as crowded as it is mid-summer!

There are 13 stops on this year's Lake Pub Crawl and a single $10 wristband will get you into every one of them. That's also your ticket onto the dozens of pub crawl buses that will be running all night long, from 4:00 pm-2:30 am, making sure you have a sober ride to every stop. Wine Pairing Dinner at Wobbly Boots
Tuesday, Feb. 18
February at the lake also brings a gourmet evening of culinary delights. Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach is hosting a Fireside Chat Dinner featuring 5 gourmet courses created by the talented Chef Kevin McCowan. Each course will be paired with an amazing wine. 

The event takes place in the Boots' Fireside Room next to that cozy fireplace, so seating is limited. Call 573-348-2277 to reserve your spot before they are all gone. If you miss this one, you'll have to wait until next fall before you get the chance again! 
   

Spend the Night at Shorty Pants 
Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina may be closed this time of year but our waterfront vacation house rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks are available year-round. You get a fantastic lake view, relaxing surroundings, all the comforts of home, and plenty of room for lots of family and friends. 

The Glass House is able to host up to 8 people. The Red House can accommodate up to 16 guests. (Of course, you're more than welcome to enjoy the entire place to yourself or someone special... Valentine's Day is coming up in February too!) It's not too early to start booking dates for your stay during the most popular summer events as well.   

February at the Lake of the Ozarks is looking to be pretty amazing. Immediately after that, March brings St. Patrick's Day at the lake and the opening of quite a few Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurants & bars. Holiday Fun at the Lake of the Ozarks & You Can Stay With Us!

The lake area gets a lot of attention throughout the summer but winters around here are full of fun too! Especially during the holiday season. In addition to tons of great holiday shopping, you'll also find lots and lots of wonderful family-fun activities happening all around the lake area. 

We've got the perfect place for you and the entire gang to stay while you are in town! Our two Lake of the Ozarks waterfront vacation rental houses, which are located right next door to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, are centrally located so you are close to all of the holiday magic!

Holiday Activities

• Dec. 7 - Camdenton Christmas on the Square: Enjoy games, ornament making, craft tables, music, performances, cookie decorating, a petting zoo, hot chocolate, cookies, and more. People are encouraged to bring canned goods that will then be donated to the LAMB House food pantry. 
• Dec. 14 - Lake Ozarks Christmas Parade: From 1:00-3:00 pm, the 35th Annual Christmas Parade will make its way through Lake Ozark to the historic Bagnell Dam Strip. Following the parade, Santa will be greeting all the kids at Luby's Plaza with treats and hot chocolate.  
• Dec. 14 & 15 - Claus For A Cause: Performance Boat Center (just up the road from the vacation rental houses at Shorty Pants) will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland! The fun begins at 11:00 am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Tickets are $10 each and proceeds go to support CLC, a not-for-profit that provides services to young children with special needs in the lake rea. There will be face painting, crafts, and a whole lot more plus a visit from Santa Claus!  
• Dec. 14 - Old Tyme Christmas in Linn Creek: A celebration of Christmas will take place throughout the city of Linn Creek from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. There will be crafts, gift ideas, museum tours, caroling, and much more.  
• Dec. 14 - Eldon's Lighted Christmas Parade: An evening parade begins at 5:15 pm which will light up the city of Eldon as it passes by! After the parade, Rock Island Park will host the lighting of the Magic Tree with music, hot chocolate, s'mores, and a visit from Santa. Before the parade, a variety of holiday activities will also be taking place throughout town. 
• Christmas on Main Street: The Main Street Music Hall in Osage Beach performs its amazing Christmas show from Nov. 29-Dec. 22. This night is full of music and laughter and is guaranteed to entertain every kid from age one to age 92 with an evening of clean family fun. 
• Carols in the Caverns: Experience the sounds of the season performed by local musicians and choirs in the natural acoustics of Stark Caverns in Eldon, MO, on various dates throughout December. Tickets are $5 per person and seating is limited.

Holiday Lights

• Enchanted Village of Lights: The Laurie Fairgrounds hosts one of the largest drive-through light parks in Mid-Missouri Nov. 22-Jan. 1. Entrance is free but donations are greatly appreciated. 
• Festival of Lights: The National Shrine of Mary in Laurie, MO, features beautiful light displays Nov. 28-Jan. 1 from 5:00 pm-10:00 pm. 
• Osage Beach Holiday Lights in the Park: The Osage Beach City Park features over 100 holiday-themed light displays to enjoy for free evenings between 5:00-9:00 pm Nov. 30-Dec. 1. 
• Celebration Cruises Christmas on the Lake: Formerly known as "Deck the Docks," this holiday cruise on the water will benefit several area lake charities. Cruises depart from Bagnell Dam on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays Nov. 22-Dec. 28. Reserve tickets early because these fill up fast!

All the Comforts of Home + a Great Lake View
If you don't live in the lake area, or if you happen to have family joining you from out of town, our waterfront vacation house rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks are the perfect place to stay. Both houses are tucked away to give you a relaxing getaway next to the water and feature that same breathtaking lake view that you enjoy from Shorty Pants Lounge every summer. (Just with fewer leaves on the trees and fewer boats cruising by.) 

The Glass House can hold up to 8 guests, which is perfect for a family getaway or a weekend shopping trip with a few friends. Its 1,500 square feet of living space has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, a washer & dryer, and a full kitchen with just about everything you might need during your stay. There are also some lovely decks to sit back and relax on if the weather allows. 

The Red House boasts 3,400 square feet of living space, which easily houses up to 16 people. There is a large deck off of the upstairs and a covered deck downstairs. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and 1 half-bath. It also contains its own washer & dryer plus a kitchen with all the necessities.   

Our Lake of the Ozarks Cajun restaurant & bar may be closed for the season but our vacation rental houses are available year-round. It's not too early to book your favorite dates for the 2020 season. Some other dates-of-interest coming up that you may want to book a stay for include:

• Winter Concerts at Dog Days Bar & Grill: Our sister restaurant is hosting two special off-season concerts featuring the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks. The lake area is a very popular vacation spot all summer long, but the fun doesn't stop around here after Labor Day. On the contrary, there are all kinds of great activities and events to enjoy around the lake throughout the year. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina has a list of some popular fall events for you up first today followed by a look at the best waterfront vacation houses at the Lake of the Ozarks after that. Fall Events at Lake of the Ozarks

If you think the lake area is breathtaking in the summer, wait until you get a gander at the gorgeous fall foliage everywhere that you go each autumn! A relaxing fall vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks is already a wonderful reason to visit. These annual events and festivals just give you even more incentive to plan that trip. Lake of the Ozarks WingFest
Sept. 25
Local restaurants from across the lake area compete to find out who has the best wings in town. Your ticket gets you all the wings you can eat (while they last) plus a beverage and musical entertainment. All of the proceeds benefit local charities and you get a belly full of the most amazing wings you've ever tasted. We're extremely partial to the Wobbly Wings from our sister restaurant, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, but the other booths will be worth tasting too.  

Fall Big Bass Bash

This annual fishing tournament is for amateurs only and there is over $250,000 up for grabs in prizes! Be sure to stock up on everything you'll need for a day out on the lake at Shorty Pants Marina before heading out to win the big money. 

20th Annual Bogeys & Beer Golf Tournament 
Oct. 10
We are proud every year to be a part of this annual golf tournament where all of the proceeds benefit many local organizations. It consists of a shotgun start, cash prizes and 18-hole proxies, silent & live auctions, and both lunch and an awards dinner provided. Oh, and of course, beer! (Among other tasty refreshing adult beverages!)  

34th Annual Fall Harbor Hop
Oct. 12
Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina will once again be one of the many lakeside stops for this popular poker run on the water. (Which makes it extremely convenient to stay here in one of our rental houses!) That day we'll have the incredible Steven Moore onstage to keep you entertained. A $20 donation allows you to collect 7 cards from any of the waterfront stops on the list and prizes are given out when it's over.

Make a Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest 2019 Pit Stop at Shorty Pants

It's time once again for a very exciting annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks - Bikefest! There are incredible activities to enjoy all around the lake area, whether you're a biker or not. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is proud to be a Bikefest Passport Stop and one of our vacation house rentals is still available to some lucky visitor that week! 

Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest 2019
The gorgeous scenic roadways and tons of places to have a great time around the lake area bring motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the United States to the Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest each year. The event takes place between September 11-15. 

In addition to the chance to cruise through the scenic Ozark hills, lots of activities will be going on in conjunction with the festival. These include the Bikefest Passport Ride (more on that below,) motorcycle giveaways, vendor areas, contests, promo giveaways, and a whole lot more.

There will also be live music happening just about every place that you go. Our sister restaurant, Dog Days Bar & Grill, will set up shop at the Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson store. As we mentioned earlier, our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is thrilled to be one of the many stops on this year's Bikefest Passport Ride. Pick up your 2019 passport at Shorty Pants (or any of the participating stops) for a $20 donation. (Find a full list of stops, a map, and the official rules by visiting www.LakeBikefest.com.) You are welcome to complete multiple passports to increase your chances of winning the grand prize.  

You have from 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 11 through Sunday, September 15 at noon to get your passports stamped and turned into the "Official Passport Booth" at the Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson Dealership during the scheduled times. A completed passport earns you a chance to win the grand prize - a NEW 2018 Harley-Davidson Softtail Fat Bob Motorcycle!

Stay at Shorty Pants
Currently (but it's bound to go quickly) one of our two Lake of the Ozarks vacation rental houses is available to rent during Bikefest 2019. The Red House sleeps up to 16 with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 1 half-bath. It contains all the comforts of home plus two 44-foot decks to lounge on while you enjoy that fantastic lake view.  

You get a gorgeous waterfront house to stay in while you're in town and best of all, it's right next door to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina! You can get your passport stamped and enjoy the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks while you're here. If you want to get out on the water at least one day during Bikefest, Shorty Pants Marina & C-store is just down the dock for all of your boating needs too.  

The perfect time to get back out on the lake would be to return for the annual Fall Harbor Hop on Saturday, October 12, 2019. Right now both the Red House and our other gorgeous rental, The Glass House (which sleeps up to 8,) are both available for that weekend. (Once again, act fast if you want them! That's a very popular time to vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks too.)

2019 Lake of the Ozarks Events You Don't Want To Miss

Spring in the lake area is just the beginning of a season full of fun on the water! Sure, there are lots of cool things to do and see year-round, but summertime takes the excitement up a notch. 

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina realizes that many of you come from out of town, so it's important to know dates for the best events ahead of time. That way, you can be sure to snag one of our lakefront vacation house rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks before they're all booked up. 

Currently, we do have a lot of dates filled, but there are a few here and there that are still available. You can check availability online for the Red House and the White House from our website. The Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers Association (LOMDA) will fill the docks at our sister restaurant, Dog Days Bar & Grill, with the newest watercraft for the 2019 season. They always promise "More dealers, more boats, more brands, more vendors, and more fun!" You can get an up close and personal look at fun "toys" to take out on the water, and on land, there will be booths set up featuring all the accessories you could possibly need for being a boat owner.

Spring Big Bass Bash
Lake of the Ozarks State Park
This huge fishing tournament is aimed at the amateur angler, offering prize payouts totaling over $250,000, with $100,000 going to the winner! Unlike most fishing tournaments where prizes are based on total weight of all catches, in this competition, it only takes 1 fisherman just 1 big bass to win it all.

31st Annual Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals
Bagnell Dam Strip
All makes, models, and years of show vehicles will take over the historic Bagnell Dam Strip for this massive show and legendary weekend. The entire area is closed to traffic during show hours so you can wander and wonder at the magnificent cars, trucks, and motorcycles on display. Some say it's like being on the movie set of American Graffiti!

22nd Annual Spring Harbor Hop

This annual poker run on the water is a great way to kick off the boating season. There are over 40 participating locations to visit all over the lake area (including yours truly, Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina!) Visit at least 7 stops, picking up a card at each one to complete a poker hand for prizes. When you stay in our Lake of the Ozarks vacation rental, you can fill up at Short Pants Marina in the morning, "hop" all day, then pick up your final card at Shorty Pants Lounge & enjoy the rest of your evening with us.

4th Annual Homegrown Festival

The Lake Race Invitational Power Boat Racing is presented by Performance Boat Center. This year the race has been moved to Camden on the Lake rather than it's past location near the Bagnell Dam Strip. It's an event that attracts the fastest and most powerful boats in the world to compete on the Lake of the Ozarks.

August 24-25
31st Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout
The top powerboat racers and off-shore racing power boats from across the country will do their best to beat the clock for the best times. This is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the Midwest with more than 100 racers and 100,000 spectators! Proceeds benefit Lake Area Rescue Teams and many other local charitable organizations. All kinds of fun activities will be going on all over the area during the week leading up to the big race weekend too.
