We use rubs and spices direct from Louisiana in our cooking, and you can both see and taste the influence of their Creole cuisine in our delicious dishes. Our World Famous Crab Cakes are an extremely popular menu item, as well as our Gumbo, Crawfish-N-Shrimp Etouffee, Jambalaya, and so much more.

That inspiration can also be found at the bar in many of our refreshing cocktails. From freshly muddled Mojitos to our Cajun Bloody Mary and the extensive list of Hurricanes that we have to offer, you most definitely will not go thirsty!

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is open 7 days a week at 11 am, so you can join us any day that you like for lunch, dinner, or a few cocktails. If you'd like to experience some of the beautiful music coming from our lakeside stage 3 nights a week, be sure to mark your calendars now from the list above. Shorty Pants Marina - Everything You Need For a Great Day on the Lake of the Ozarks!

If you're in the lake area, more than likely you are going to want to spend quite a bit of time out on the water. It's easy to spend the entire day out there, and when you plan to do that, you're going to want to make a stop at the best gas dock and marina at the Lake of the Ozarks before you head out. Once you stock up on everything you need at Shorty Pants Marina, you'll be all set for an eventful day on the water.

For example, this Saturday, July 21 at our sister restaurant Dog Days Bar & Grill, it's time for AquaPalooza 2018, the biggest single-day boating event at the Lake of the Ozarks! From 1-5 pm there will be hundreds of boats tied up in the Dog Days cove enjoying the 4 incredible bands performing all afternoon long. If you happen to be one of the lucky people in one of those boats, you'll be needing some supplies until you make it up to the restaurant. That's where a stop at Shorty Pants Marina in the morning will come in handy!

Gas
First and foremost, you'll want to get you watercraft gassed up for the day. We've got 87 Octane, 93 Octane, and Diesel fuel for your boat or PWC. Swing on by early and let us fill you up, and if you need to be topped off at the end of the day, come on back again! There will be live music and a delicious dinner waiting for you up the dock at Shorty Pants Lounge when you get here.

Ice, Drinks, & Snacks
This time of year, it's most often sunny and extremely hot, so you're going to want refreshments on your boat to keep cool and energized throughout the day. The C-store at Shorty Pants Marina has the ice you need for your coolers (as well as a few coolers too) plus the tasty treats to put inside plus the ice.

You can pick up package liquor, soft drinks, water, and all kinds of snacks while you're here. We've even got free popsicles for the kiddos when you stop by, free coffee for the adults, and free dog treats for your 4-legged passengers.

Boating Essentials
Just in case you need to stock up on a few boating and/or personal essentials, we can take care of that for you too. Boating supplies include oil, fuel stabilizer, watersport flags, batteries, and more. For your passengers, we have personal care items you may have forgotten to pack, such as koozies, drink cups, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, chapstick, toilet paper, and more. We even carry Dramamine, just in case someone on the boat might need it.

You'll also find the stuff you need to keep you safe from the sun during your day out on the lake like sunblock, sunglasses, and hats. There's also plenty of awesome Shorty Pants gear to wear in sizes to fit the entire family.

Boat Storage
Also, if you need a place to park your watercraft while you're in town, we may be able to help you out there too. We have 35 covered boat slips available from sizes 14'x26' up to 20'x56' as well as PWC slip rentals. Give us a call at 573-302-1004 to check availability and make arrangements to park here. Amenities that come along with those slips include showers, washer/dryer, free WiFi, free electric, free ice, gated parking, and gas discounts.

Anytime that you're in the lake area this summer and planning to spend the day out on the water, make sure that our Lake of the Ozarks gas dock and C-store at the 21MM in Salt Hollow Cove is your first stop. We've always got great music onstage on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, so you might as well make us your last stop too! A wonderful ending to an amazing day.

Our Incredibly Refreshing Freshly Muddled Mojitos

An extremely refreshing summertime drink to sit on the deck of our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant and enjoy is the delicious Mojito. They are hand-mixed and made to order at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, and they pair beautifully with the tasty dishes on our Cajun-inspired menu.

A mojito is a rum-based cocktail traditionally made with white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and fresh mint. It's the fresh mint that makes this drink unavailable at most bars and restaurants, but we keep plenty on hand to mix a mojito anytime that you're thirsty for one. July 11 happens to be National Mojito Day, so in honor of this delicious drink, today's blog features a few interesting facts about its history.

Mojito Origins
Havana, Cuba is said to be the birthplace of the mojito. We discovered two possible origins about how this drink came to be.

Story #1
Many believe that it is fashioned after a drink from the 16th century originally called "El Draque." It was named after Sir Francis Drake who led a successful raid at Cartagena de Indias in 1586. As his ships were sailing toward Havana, an epidemic of dysentery and scurvy broke out on board. A small group from the ship went ashore on Cuba to retrieve the ingredients for a remedy that the local South American Indians were said to possess.

These ingredients included aguardiente de caña, which translates to mean "burning water." This was a crude form of the rum we know today made from sugar cane. This was mixed with other local ingredients of lime, sugar cane juice, and mint. The extra ingredients helped to hide the harsh taste of the liquor. Apparently, the lime alone probably would have helped to prevent the epidemic, but this route gave us the beginnings of the mojito of today.

Story #2
The other story that we came across is the account of some historians that believe the drink was invented by the African slaves who worked in the Cuban sugar cane fields in the 19th century. A popular drink among them was Guarapo, which is the sugar cane juice that is often used to make mojitos. The original mojito that arose from this version did not contain any lime juice.

Mojitos at Shorty Pants Lounge
We not only offer our own take on the original mojito recipe at our Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, but we've also come up with a few flavorful variations we believe you will enjoy.

Mojito
A refreshing concoction of light rum and freshly muddled lime, mint leaves, simple syrup, and club soda. For extra flavor, you can also substitute one of our flavored rums, like strawberry, key lime, passion fruit, black cherry, or raspberry.

Pineapple Mojito
Cruzan Pineapple Run mojito muddled with grilled pineapples.

Ginger Mojito
Our classic mojito with a ginger twist.

Turbo Mojito
Cruzan Coconut Rum mojito with a floater of Cruzan 151.

Blackberry Mojito
Our classic mojito muddled with blackberries.

The next time that you come in for a plate of the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks or a for a cocktail break, consider giving one of our freshly muddled mojitos a try. With all of the different choices we have for you at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, there's bound to be at least one that will hit the spot nicely.
