Every year Lake Lifestyles Magazine asks the community to vote on all of their favorite lake area businesses in a wide range of categories. We are extremely proud to accept 1st place in the Best of the Lake's poll this year under the category of "Best Cajun Restaurant!" For those of you that have not yet visited us at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, here's a quick look at what earned us that prestigious title.
Amazing Cajun Cooking
The creative chefs at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant & bar have come up with some of the most authentic Cajun creations that you will find outside of Louisiana! We've incorporated classic Creole-cooking ingredients like rice, sausage, seafood, and vegetables, into our recipes along with savory rubs and spices that we get direct from Louisiana.
Although we do have many non-Cajun dishes on the menu for a little variety, the bulk of our specialty dishes have an irresistible Cajun flair. You'll find evidence of that sprinkled throughout the extensive menu, from appetizers to entrees, to even our desserts! Here's a sampling of what you'll find, but know that there is a lot more to discover on our full menu.
Sausage & Chicken Gumbo
A hearty helping of our rich gumbo served with rice. Served by the cup of by the bowl.
Big Easy Shrimp
Large Gulf shrimp sauteed in butter, white wine, garlic, lemon, rosemary, and Cajun seasoning.
Creole Quesadilla
A bountiful blend of Andouille sausage, crawfish, shrimp, sauteed peppers, onions, and pepper jack cheese.
Po Boys
We serve this classic Cajun sandwich on a toasted French roll with Cajun mayo, lettuce, tomato, and your choice of Southern-fried or blackened catfish, deep-fried big Gulf oysters, or hand-breaded Gulf shrimp. We also offer an Andouille Sausage Po Boy that is topped with our homemade remoulade plus tomato and shredded lettuce.
Red Beans & Rice
This classic dish is seasoned to perfection and served with a link of Andouille sausage.
Jambalaya
Louisiana rice-based dish steamed in rich and subtle Cajun spices, Andouille sausage, chicken, and shrimp. Try it "dirty" topped with red beans!
Crawfish 'n' Shrimp Etouffee
Crawfish and shrimp smothered in a rich creamy etouffee sauce with Creole vegetables served with rice.
Smothered Catfish
A catfish filet, either fried or blackened, served on a bed of rice and smothered in our Crawfish Etouffee.
Shrimp & Grits
Large shrimp sauteed with Andouille sausage, hickory-smoked bacon, onions, and mushrooms served over homemade cheddar cheese and jalapeno grits.
New Orleans Medley
A plateful of our signature entrees: creamy Crawfish Etouffee, rich Jambalaya, Red Beans & Rice, and a half-link of our Andouille sausage.
Delicious Cajun Inspired Cocktails Too
When you're serving the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, you simply have to add a few Big Easy-inspired cocktails to the menu too. Hurricanes (the drink, not the storm) are a staple in New Orleans. Not only have we perfected our version of the original recipe but we've added a few of our own Hurricane recipes to the bar menu as well. We also serve up freshly muddled Mojitos and a Cajun Bloody Mary that is bound to become your new favorite!
