Winter Fun At the Lake of the Ozarks You Don't Want To Miss!

Once spring 2021 finally gets here (which lands on Saturday, March 20), you know there will be all kinds of fun things to enjoy in the lake area, including hanging out at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina with us! (We usually open back up early in March, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media pages for an exact date!)

Until then, there are still lots of fun annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks for you to participate in. Below we've featured a few of those dates. If you'll be coming from out of town, it's best to book your stay in one of our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront vacation house rentals sooner rather than later so you've got a great place to stay while you're here! 

Shorty Pants Vacation Rental Houses

Our waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks has two amazing vacation houses for rent right next door. They come with all the comforts of home and are centrally located to all the fun and excitement that the lake area has to offer year-round. 

The Glass House offers 1,500 square feet of living space and can easily house up to 8 guests. The Red House boasts 3,400 square feet of living space and can sleep up to 16. Both offer plenty of room to bring the whole family along or a large group of friends for a relaxing winter stay at the lake. Both houses have an amazing lake view with large decks to sit on and admire it from. (Of course, if it's too cold while you're here, the view is just as beautiful through the windows!)

Valentine's Day
February 14, 2021
The holiday of romance falls on a Sunday this year, which means you might as well make an entire weekend celebration out of it! Cuddling up by the fireplace or cozying up together to enjoy that gorgeous wintertime lake view are excellent activities for this type of private getaway. Currently, both of our rental houses are available this weekend but don't wait too long to book one!   

Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl Passport Weekend
February 19-21, 2021
The Lake Pub Crawl is always an exciting weekend to be in the lake area and this year, instead of just one night to enjoy the festivities, they have extended the party to last three entire days and nights! Due to COVID safety concerns, no busses will be running this year so they are allowing everyone an extended period of time to check-in at every stop.

Polar Plunge
February 27, 2021
Swimming in the lake all summer long is a highlight of a vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks. In the winter, well, not so much. Unless that is, it's for a good cause! 

This annual plunge into the icy cold lake is a family-friendly event that benefits Special Olympics Missouri. If you're brave enough to plunge or just want to watch other people in crazy costumes do it, visit the SOMO website event page.   

Lake of the Ozarks Eagle Days
March 6, 2021
Many majestic eagles call the Lake of the Ozarks home. This event honors that with sightseeing and programs presented by the World Bird Sanctuary and the Dickerson Park Zoo. You can find a full schedule of events at www.LakeOfTheOzarksEagleDays.com. 

Lake of the Ozarks St. Patrick's Day Parade
March 13, 2021
If you've never attended a St. Patrick's Day weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks, you've been missing out on a season-opening celebration like no other! This is the time of year when many of the seasonal spots (like your favorite Cajun restaurant & marina at the Lake of the Ozarks) are back open and ready to start an exciting new year of fun. Start the day with the parade on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip, then head our way for delicious food and more weekend excitement.  

If you do happen to book a stay with us this winter, be sure to check out our sister restaurant Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach. They serve the most amazing hickory-smoked BBQ you've ever tasted, among other delicious dishes. (Including a fantastic Po Boy Sandwich a whole lot like the one we serve here at Short Pants Lounge each summer!) 

As we mentioned earlier, keep an eye on our social media for updates on exactly which date in March we'll be opening the doors for our 2021 season. Looking for Winter Fun at the Lake of the Ozarks? Here It Is!

We're all looking forward to March because it happens to contain opening day for your favorite waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, but you don't have to wait that long to have a good time around here. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina's sister restaurants have some awesome events coming up that we know you are going to love! 

First, this January, there is an evening for whiskey-lovers and food lovers alike. Then in February, it's time for the Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl plus an out-of-this-world pre-party that you do not want to miss!  

Whiskey Dinner at Wobbly Boots
This event may be geared toward whiskey-lovers, but the gourmet creations that chef Kevin McCowan comes up with will make even the most finicky foodie very, very happy! Wobbly Boots Roadhouse will be hosting this 5-course whiskey pairing dinner on Monday, January 28, 2019, at 6:30 pm in their private room next to the fireplace. 

Savory whiskey cocktails and tastings from the Jim Beam family will be featured this month. Seating is limited, so you'll want to head on over to the Boot ASAP to pick up tickets or call 573-348-2277 to reserve them. Wobbly Boots BBQ has been recognized as one of the Great Bourbon Bars of America, and these dinners helped them to earn that title.     

Pre-Pub Crawl Party at Dog Days
The night before the biggest party at the Lake of the Ozarks, Dog Days Bar & Grill will open for another off-season, one-night-only event featuring amazing live music and incredible drinks. It's the perfect warm-up before you head out on Saturday to the Lake Pub Crawl.

Doors open at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 15, 2019, for a fantastic dance party at the Dog. In case you were unaware, they have an incredible indoor stage that works perfectly for hosting a winter party. 

There will be a double-feature of amazing music in store for you beginning at 8:00 pm with both The Plastics and The Mixtapes. Tickets will be $15 at the door on show night, but you can pick up tickets in advance for only $10 each at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. 

The Mardi Gras Pub Crawl
If you like to party at the lake, then you've undoubtedly heard about this very popular annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks. It's the one night mid-winter that the lake area is nearly as crowded as it is mid-summer! 

The Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl is happening on Saturday, February 16, 2019. This year there are 16 stops, each featuring their own live music, and over 30 buses offering a safe, sober ride to all pub crawlers from 4:00 pm-2:30 am. A single $10 wristband allows you to join in the fun all night long! Our favorite stop is always Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, but as long as you're with fun friends and ready for a night of revelry, you're going to have fun at each stop! Fun Reasons to Vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks This December

The lake area is a summertime hot spot, but it's tons of fun over the winter too. There is always something exciting going on, and if you happen to live out of town, this is the perfect time of year to take a trip and stay at one of our vacation rental houses at the Lake of the Ozarks.

You get all the comforts of home when you stay next door to Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, there's plenty of room for groups both large and small, and you're centrally located to all of the action. Here are just a few of the reasons you will want to be at the Lake of the Ozarks in December. 

Concert at Dog Days
Our sister restaurant, Dog Days Bar & Grill, closes during the off-season like we do, but for one-night-only, they're opening their doors for a rockin' good party! On Saturday, December 8, 2018, the Dog will open its bar, stage, and dance floor for a night full of fun. 

Machine Gun Symphony will take the stage with special guest Zero Zero. Doors open at 7 pm and the party will go on all night long! You can pick up tickets in advance at our other sister restaurant, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, for $10 each or grab them at the door on show night for $15 each. 

Fireside Bourbon Dinner
Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is also selling tickets now for their first Fireside Bourbon Dinner of the season on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. They were named one of the Great Bourbon Bars of America by GreatBourbon.com this year, and these amazing dinners have a lot to do with that title. 

Seating is limited to only 20 people. Tickets are $125 each and include a 5-course gourmet dinner prepared by Chef McCowan with an elite bourbon pairing for each course. This is all served fireside in their private dining room. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club, which is an organization that helps lots of in-need children in the lake area. Call 573-348-2277 right away to reserve your spot.  

New Year's Eve 
Once the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season has passed, New Year's Eve follows quickly behind that. There will be lots of fantastic New Year's Eve parties in the lake area, including one at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse featuring the music of Art Bentley. 

Of course, you could also decide to host an intimate gathering of your own inside one of our Lake of the Ozarks vacation rental houses. They include a wonderful lake view, full kitchens, comfortable living rooms, and enough room to sleep up to 8 guests in the Glass House and up to 16 guests in the Red House!     

Holiday Shopping
Instead of staying at the Lake of the Ozarks for a special event, spend a few days here taking advantage of some incredible shopping for holiday gifts for everyone on your list. There are brand-name stores plus lots of smaller, local shops with all kinds of unique and amazing items you won't find anyplace else.

Camdenton hosts a special Christmas on the Square, and there's an annual parade on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark, plus concerts, shows, and many more reasons to spend some time at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Exciting Winter Events at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's a brand new year, and 2018 has a lot of incredible events at the Lake of the Ozarks coming your way. You don't have to wait until the summer season begins before that excitement starts. January and February have quite a few awesome things going on, and Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina has the perfect place for you and all of your friends to stay while you're in town. Eagle Days
January 6-7 
The Lake of the Ozarks is a wonderful place to view the majestic Eagle, and this weekend celebrates that. Last year over 3,700 people were in attendance. There will be programs featuring live eagles, boat cruises and special spots to do some bird-watching, and fun activities for all ages in various locations. Grab your binoculars and head on back to the lake for some fun with nature. There's plenty of room in our vacation rental houses to bring the entire family with you! 

Whiskey Pairing Dinner

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach (just a short drive from our Lake of the Ozarks vacation rental houses) will host 2 Whiskey Pairing Dinners, with the first seating at 5:30 pm and a second at 8:15 pm. You will enjoy a 5-course gourmet dinner specially created for this event, and every course will be paired with an exquisite whiskey from the Jim Beam family of America's best bourbons. Seating will be limited, and you can purchase tickets in advance at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse.   

FREE Wedding Vow Renewals
Bridal Cave
January 11
Every year Bridal Cave invites married couples to renew their vows near Valentine's Day inside their stalactite-adorned underground wedding chapel. This event is free, and participants will get a goodie bag filled with all kinds of lake area discounts, fresh flowers for the bride, a downloadable wedding portrait, and a lifetime pass to tour Bridal Cave, which is absolutely beautiful and open year-round.  

Valentine's Day
February 14
This romantic holiday falls on a Wednesday this year, so if you can spare the time away from work, you can spend the entire week in one of our vacation rentals to celebrate! There are free wedding vow renewals the weekend before, and the biggest party at the Lake of the Ozarks and a bridal show the weekend after! What a great excuse to get away! (And at the time this was written, our vacation rentals were still available...)  

Mardi Gras Pub Crawl Pre-Party
Dog Days Bar & Grill
February 16
Dog Days Bar & Grill is closed for the season like we are this time of year, but they are opening for a special one-night-only event on the Friday before the Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl to make that amazing weekend even more exciting than usual! The 90's hip-hop band "Dope Ass Sneakers" will hit the stage at 8 pm, followed by a crowd favorite from the last 2 AquaPaloozas, "The Mixtapes!" Ticket sales will be limited, and you can buy them for $10 in advance or $15 at the door while they last.  

Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl
February 17
If you haven't experienced this gigantic pub crawl, then you have definitely got to get yourself to the lake for it this year! The purchase of a $10 wristband gives you access to all of the bars and restaurant on the pub crawl route (14 so far) plus a ride to and from each of them on the pub crawl busses. Every venue features live music, and busses start crawling at 4:00 pm.

Lake of the Ozarks Bridal Show
February 18
Getting married soon? The Lake of the Ozarks is a gorgeous place to tie the knot, and this bridal show will introduce you to many of the incredible wedding vendors in the area. You and your entire wedding party can make a whole weekend of it and stay together in either our Red House of the Glass House, then hop on the expressway to head to the bridal show and begin planning your lake area wedding.    

Once March rolls around, it will be time for your favorite Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks to open our doors for the 2018 season! Our vacation houses are available to rent year-round though, and they are the perfect home away from home for you to stay in while you're in town!

December Fun at the Lake of the Ozarks - and You Can Stay With Us!

The lake area is beautiful in every season, and if you haven't had the joy of seeing it in the fall and winter, then you really should make the effort to get yourself here soon. We've got the perfect vacation rental houses at the Lake of the Ozarks for you to stay in during your visit that are spacious, comfortable, and centrally located with an amazing lake view. In case you need more incentive than the natural beauty of the area, Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina has come up with a list of some fun things to do in December while you are here.   

Holiday Shopping
Tis the season to frantically search for the perfect gifts for everyone on your list! The lake area has lots of wonderful places for you to do just that. You'll find name brand stores that you are familiar with at the Outlet Mall and the other shopping centers. There are also lots of smaller, local shops with unique and amazing items you won't find anyplace else. Our Lake of the Ozarks vacation rental houses are centrally located in Osage Beach, so you're never very far away from great shopping, no matter which direction you travel. 

Holiday Lights & Activities
If you'd like to take in a few sights and sounds of this festive season, there are lots of options available to you throughout the month of December. For holiday lights, parades, cruises on the lake, and entertaining shows, this is the place to be! A few that you may enjoy are:  

• Osage Beach Holiday Lights in the Park
  Osage Beach City Park is filled with a free drive-through light display through December 31, and there are also many displays up for you to enjoy along Osage Beach Parkway. 
• St. Patrick's Festival of Lights
  This is the oldest light park in the lake area at the Shrine of St. Patrick/ Mother's Shrine in Laurie. It's free and open to the public from 5-10 pm until December 31.
• Enchanted Village of Lights
  Through January 1, you can enjoy this drive-through light park at the Laurie Fairgrounds for free from 5- 9 pm, but donations are greatly appreciated. 
• Deck the Docks Holiday Cruises & Frosty Float
  Celebration Cruises host 2 different types of holiday fun on the lake. Deck the Docks goes out from 5:30-8 pm to view the many holiday displays on the water every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday through December 30. Their Frosty Float is fun for the entire family on December 3 & 10 with daytime cruises at 10 am, 1:30 pm, and 5 pm. These include children's activities, Christmas carols, and a visit from Santa.  
• Christmas on Main Street
  The Main Street Music Hall in the Landing in Osage Beach will be putting on their holiday show through December 17. It's filled with music, laughter, and incredible entertainment for all ages. 

A Quiet Retreat From the Holiday Hustle
Of course, if you simply want to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, our Lake of the Ozarks vacation rental houses can offer you that relaxing seclusion that you are longing for. Both houses are tucked away just past Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, and each features the same breathtaking lake view that you enjoy from our restaurant every summer. (Just with fewer leaves on the trees!) 

The Glass House can hold up to 8 guests, which is perfect for a family getaway or a weekend away with a few friends. It's 1,500 square feet of living space has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, a washer & dryer, and a full kitchen with everything you might need during your stay except the food. There are also some lovely decks to sit outside on if the weather allows.

The Red House boasts 3,400 square feet of living space, which easily houses up to 16 people. This is a wonderful place to stay if you are organizing a family reunion or maybe a shopping trip with all of your pals. There is a large deck off of the upstairs and a covered deck downstairs. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and 1 half bath. It also contains its own washer and dryer plus a kitchen with all the necessities. 

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina may be closed for the season, but our vacation rental houses at the Lake of the Ozarks are available year-round. There are plenty of open dates right now, and hey, no one has claimed New Year's Eve yet! Lots of fun parties take place in the area to ring in the new year, or you can host your own small gathering in the Glass House or the Red House and let Shorty Pants cater it for you!
