Memorial Day Weekend Excitement is Waiting at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina!

The 3-day weekend that results from the observance of Memorial Day 2018 is a great excuse to pack up and get out of town for a little fun and relaxation. With the weather getting more summer-like every day, the lake area is a perfect choice, and our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant, bar, and marina has some excitement planned that you don't want to miss!

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina in Osage Beach has been open for the season for a while now, and we're fully ready (and anxious) to take on a big holiday weekend and all of the amazing things that come with that. Here is what we've got waiting for you when you get into town this Memorial Day Weekend.

Great Live Music
We've got a fantastic outdoor stage that we fill with the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks all season long. For Memorial Day Weekend 2018, that stage will be graced by the incredible Travis Marvin on Friday and Saturday, May 25 & 26. He's a Kansas native that's been rocking the region for nearly a decade, and every time he joins us, the crowd absolutely loves him.

If you can extend your holiday weekend, or happen to live in the area year-round, be sure to come back to catch the talented Noe Palma on stage Tuesday night after the holiday. Beginning in June, you can enjoy great live entertainment at Shorty Pants every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

A Spectacular View
Being classified as a waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks means that you can have lunch, dinner, or cocktails lakeside, enjoying the fantastic ambiance and scenery that you can only find here by our beautiful mid-Missouri lake. It's amazing how one view can somehow be both exciting and relaxing at the same time!

We've got lots of tables for you to dine at right next to the water, and there's also a nice covered area where you can chill out by the fireplace (even though it's not running this time of year) and catch the game on TV while you wait for your table. If you've been out on the lake all day and want to get out of the heat, we've got lots of seating in our air-conditioned, smoke-free dining room too.

Delicious Food & Refreshing Drinks
We serve the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, as well as quite a few American dishes, just in case you happen to be the one in the group that isn't in the mood for Creole cuisine. (But we're willing to bet that if you try it, you'll like it!) We serve menu items that seem to come straight out of New Orleans, using authentic rubs and spices direct from Louisiana.

While everyone raves about our World Famous Crab Cakes, they're also extremely fond of our Gumbo, Crawfish-N- Shrimp Etouffee, and variety of Po Boy Sandwiches. You'll also find mouthwatering steaks, specialty burgers, and signature sandwiches, salads, and wraps. There's something delicious for everyone!

We've got two fully stocked bars, one inside and one outside, that feature ice-cold beer, a wonderful wine selection, and all of your favorite mixed drinks. You'll also find those frozen drinks that the lake area is popular for, like Rum Runners, Pina Coladas, and the famous Pain in the A**. In addition to all of those, Shorty Pants creates a few of our own specialty cocktails, like the Cajun Bloody Mary, fresh muddled Mojitos, and an incredible selection of delicious Hurricanes.

Full-Service Gas Dock & C-Store
If you've arranged to actually get out on the lake this holiday weekend, Shorty Pants Marina will come in handy for stocking you up for an amazing day on the water. Our full-service gas dock at the Lake of the Ozarks has 87 Octane, 93 Octane, and Diesel fuel for your watercraft, and the C-store inside has boating necessities such as motor oil and fuel stabilizer.

Those will keep your boat or jet ski running, but we've also got the stuff you need to have some fun too! These items include (but are not limited to) snacks, soft drinks, package liquor, water, ice, watersport flags, suntan lotion, sunglasses, and so much more. We've also got all kinds of awesome Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina souvenirs, like t-shirts, hats, and koozies for you to pick up.

Shorty Pants Marina also houses the cleanest restrooms at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you're looking for a place park your watercraft while you're in town, you can give us a call at 573-302-1004 to check availability on our covered dock slips, which come with a long list of incredible amenities while you're here.

While you're in the lake area for the weekend, you can find an amazing time waiting for you at our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you happen to live here year-round, you're not limited to just this weekend. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is open 7 days a week beginning at 11 am daily. Keep an eye on us, because we've got all kinds of awesome things coming your way this season. You're going to want to hang out here with us every time you're in the area, and we can't wait to serve you!

Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club Fundraiser at Shorty Pants - May 12

Our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is honored to have the chance to sponsor May's monthly social of the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club on Saturday, May 12, 2018. This is a group of wonderful people who are anything BUT idiots, that raise money for local children and families in need. Everyone is invited to join them at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina while they do this in their very own fun and fantastic way!

What is the Idiots Club?
This is an incredible group that was founded in 2014 by Denny & Danna Hiner, both retirees of the Camdenton School District. They had a firsthand look at the needs of a great many of the students that they worked with. Many people do not realize that over 65% of the kids in the lake area live in poverty, and it is a situation that needs attention.

The needs vary greatly, from new clothes for a homeless child, to sports equipment for a student that couldn't otherwise afford to play, to a car battery for a high school kid living on their own. Money is raised through annual memberships, which are only $5, as well as the sales of t-shirts, hats, koozies, and lanyards. The group brings attention to their cause by hosting fundraising events at various lakefront restaurants during the summer, and our Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is proud to be one of those spots!

In 2017, 1,079 members signed up for the group, and this year they would love to increase that number. In the nearly 4 years since this charity began, they have been able to provide more than 10,017 child assists with a retail value of over $270,000. Thanks to the help of donations and discounts from business partners, the Idiots Club only had to pay $165,000 of that amount. They do not work directly with families, but rather through counselors, social workers, school nurses, and others that know the children personally and what is truly needed.

Join Us Saturday
The Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club will be on hand at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina from 11 am-7 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018. You can learn more by visiting www.LakeoftheOzarksIdiotsClub.org and on their Facebook page.

Come on by for lunch, dinner, or a midday cocktail to find out all about this wonderful local organization, and also just how much fun hanging out with these "idiots" can be! Monthly meetings by the water, great new friends to meet, and that amazing feeling you get when you know you're making a difference - now that's something our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant can get behind.

Your Spring Harbor Hop Headquarters - Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina!

Last week our blog gave you all of the important details so you can join in the excitement of the Lake of the Ozarks 2018 Spring Harbor Hop. Today, we've got a few reasons why Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is the best place to begin and end your hop, plus the perfect place to continue a weekend full of fun! Harbor Hop is Saturday, May 5, but we're here all weekend (and all week) long ready to get the party started!

Boating Supplies
For an entire day of boating, you'll need to stock up on the essentials before heading out. We've got the best gas dock and marina at the Lake of the Ozarks for that! We carry 87 Octane, 93 Octane, and Diesel fuel for your boat or PWC, as well as the other items you may need to keep your watercraft running smoothly, such as motor oil and fuel stabilizer.

You'll also find everything you need to satisfy your crew for the day. These items include (but are not limited to) snacks, package liquor, soft drinks, water, ice, suntan lotion, sunglasses, watersport flags, and even Dramamine (just in case!) This year we added some pretty awesome cups and can holders to our Shorty Pants swag, and an incredible cooler to go along with them.

Our marina houses the cleanest restrooms at the Lake of the Ozarks for a pit stop before you begin harbor hopping. If you need a place to park your boat while you're in town, give us a call at 573-302-1004 to check our covered dock slip availability.

Fuel For Your Body
Start your Spring Harbor Hop by getting registered and picking up your first card at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant. Grab some lunch before you go so you have plenty of energy to last all day long and well into the evening! Our menu features extraordinary Cajun dishes that taste like they came straight out of New Orleans rather than our mid-Missouri kitchen! We've also got plenty of non-Creole dishes, as well as an incredible kids' menu in case you have any little Harbor Hoppers in your crew.

Don't forget about those amazing cocktails our bartenders are so talented at creating too! You'll find lake favorites like Pina Coladas, Rum Runners, and of course, the ever-popular Pain in the A**. We also excel in mixing up freshly muddled Mojitos, Hurricanes, and our fantastic Cajun Bloody Mary. (You may want to come back for that Bloody Mary on Sunday too after a long Saturday of partying on the lake!)

Lake View & Live Music
Once you've picked up the final card and turned in your poker hand, make your way back to our waterfront Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. You'll be hungry after all that time out on the water, and the Harbor Hop ends just in time for dinner.

Steven Moore will be performing on our outdoor stage, so you'll want to stick around all night and enjoy the music. Our kitchen is open until 10 pm, and the drinks will be flowing from our bars all night long. Grab a cocktail and relax next to our unbelievable lake view, listen to the music, and round out an eventful day in the best way possible.

We're excited to see everyone on Saturday, May 5 for the Lake of the Ozarks Spring Harbor Hop, and we truly hope to see you before and after that too. Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is open 7 days a week at 11 am, ready to share a season full of fun at the lake with you!

Rave Reviews From Recent Guests at Shorty Pants Lounge

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina serves up the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks, but we don't expect you to take our word for it. Fortunately, there are lots of places online where our diners can leave unbiased reviews about their experience here with us, and today we've got a few of them to share with you.

"Love this restaurant. I'm from Louisiana. We tried this place after hearing good things. We were not disappointed. The food was fabulous. Great portions. Server was friendly and attentive. We definitely will be back soon."
~Sabrina Smith, Google review

"I and my husband love Shorty Pants! There is not a restaurant in Missouri that compares to the selection and quality of Cajun food! Crab Cakes for a starter is a must. The Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee was too die for. My Skinny Margarita was delicious. We have been twice now. Each time the food, atmosphere, and service are excellent. Our favorite restaurant at the Lake. The best selection of Cajun food in Missouri!"
~Kelly Lehn Petree-Hees, Facebook review

"Amazing cajun food! I was here for a weekend in the off season (fall) but stumbled upon this place and was very pleased. Our waitress was super sweet and even gave us a guidebook of local places to hike! The food itself was great! I had the shrimp po'boy with cornbread and candied bourbon carrots. Get the carrots and the cornbread! They were so good! The menu is pretty big and everything sounded very good. The portions were large so everything was a great value. If you are in the Lake of the Ozarks area I highly recommend this place!"
~Jesse G, Yelp review

"Shorty Pants is heavy on the atmosphere with open-air dining right on the lake. Beer is cold, apps are plentiful and the Cajun food is quite good. I'd highly suggest it if you want something that feels like the lake but has a different flavor."
~Zach S, TripAdvisor review

"Delicious lake view dining. Get the crab cakes and you will not regret it! I do not like seafood, and I devoured the crab cakes. Delicious!"
~Rochella B, TripAdvisor review

"We stopped here last night after hearing good things. They did not disappoint. The wait was short. The service was quick. We had delicious Cajun food. Being Cajun myself it's hard to eat Cajun food out and be pleased, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you haven't tried this place yet, you should. Can't wait to go back!"
~Sabrina Smith, Facebook review

"We loved the ambiance and food was amazing. We haven't been to the lake in a couple years. So, this was a pleasant surprise. If you like Cajun food then this is the place to try at the lake. Jessie was our waitress and she was friendly, outgoing, helpful and very attentive. We will certainly come back. Thank you!"
~Maryann V, Yelp review

"This is a cool spot on the lake, the staff was friendly and attentive. The Cajun menu was excellent, unfortunately, the weather was cold and drizzling but it seems they have plenty of outdoor seating with nice views. I am coming back in the summer."
~Goalsman, TripAdvisor review

Seafood & Steak - It's What's For Dinner!

There are lots of different choices to pick from when you dine at our waterfront Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, so no matter what you're in the mood for, there will be something on our menu that sounds delicious. If you happen to have a craving for savory seafood and succulent steak, something from Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina's "Signature Entrees" menu may be just the thing to satisfy those cravings.

Signature Entrees
We've already gone over our "Bourbon Street Eats" menu in a previous blog, which is an incredible collection of dinner choices with Cajun flair. You'll find a touch of that Creole inspiration in some of these dishes, but our Signature Entrees lean more toward highlighting the amazing flavors you expect from only the best seafood and steak.

Each entree is served with a garden salad or mini Caesar salad, French bread or cornbread, and your choice of one side dish. A big, delicious meal fit to satisfy even the biggest hunger.

Surf and Turf
Our famous center cut filet paired with one world-famous crab cake and seafood cream sauce.

Black Jack Filet
Our blackened 7-oz. filet topped with house-made Jack Daniels steak sauce, bacon, mushrooms, and sauteed onions.

Filet Mignon
A 7-oz. center cut filet seasoned perfectly, grilled to your liking, and topped with roasted garlic butter. It also tastes incredible blackened.

Fried Shrimp Dinner
7 jumbo shrimp hand-breaded and fried to a golden brown, served with our Bloody Mary cocktail sauce. These shrimp taste great blackened too.

Catfish Dinner
2 hand-breaded catfish filets fried to a golden brown and served with house-made tartar sauce. If you like, try it blackened instead.

12-oz. Ribeye
Certified Angus beef marbled to perfection, seasoned, and grilled to temperature.

Blackened Ribeye
A huge 12-oz. ribeye seasoned and cooked to perfection in our cast iron skillet.

That choice of a side dish that we mentioned above adds to the overall amazing taste that our kitchen is famous for creating. We have a list of scrumptious side dishes worthy of pairing with any meal, and we also have some signature side dishes that are available with your entree for a small additional charge.

Side Dishes
  • Steamed White Rice
  • Fried Okra
  • Honey-Cider Coleslaw
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Natural Cut Curly Fries
  • Fruit Cup
Signature Side Dishes
  • Dirty Jambalaya
  • Red Beans and Rice
