Shorty Pants Lounge Lake of the Ozarks: 2016 Spring Harbor Hop

Boating season is officially opening up for 2016 this weekend with the 19th Annual Spring Harbor Hop, which we detailed in last week's blog. The Kentucky Derby happens to fall on the same day as Harbor Hop this year, and your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks will be celebrating both awesome events.

Roses, prizes, fancy hats, & Bourbon!

This year on Saturday, May 7, 2016 between 3-6 pm, the 1st Annual Crawl for the Roses will take place at the Lake of the Ozarks, and Shorty Pants Lounge will host a stop for the crawl. This fun afternoon centered around watching what is referred to as the "most exciting two minutes in sports" will be filled with lots of excitement in addition to the race.

First of all, while they last, we will have roses for the ladies. The red rose is the official flower of the Kentucky Derby, and they make up the garland that the winning thoroughbred is crowned with. We will also have Four Roses Bourbon souvenir cups to hold your favorite cocktails while you cheer on the fastest horse.

A popular tradition of the Kentucky Derby is the Derby Hat Parade inside of Churchill Downs. Ladies don their fanciest bonnets, and the gents put on their best hats to wear to the race. We will continue this tradition during our event, and the best-looking hat will win a $50 gift certificate. These extravagant hats have become a symbol of good luck during the races, and they'll also come in handy during Harbor Hop to keep the sun out of your face.

Live Music + Spring Harbor Hop

As if having two awesome things going on at the same time wasn't enough, we've added some amazing live entertainment to the mix. Adrian Bartholomew will be performing onstage from 2-6 pm. We know how to treat our customers right at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina! When you pack the boat for Harbor Hop in the morning, throw your fancy hat in the bag and make sure your route brings you to us during these hours.

Mint Juleps & More

Four Roses Bourbon out of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky is the sponsor for the Crawl for the Roses. The were voted the American Whiskey Distiller of the Year by Whisky Magazine 4 out of the last 5 years. One of the many amazing cocktails that we can make for you this weekend is the traditional beverage of the Kentucky Derby - the Mint Julep. Sitting out on our lakeside deck, mint julep in hand, watching the races, now that sounds like an unforgettable afternoon at the lake.

We're only a few days away from another action-packed weekend at the best Cajun restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. After all of the partying on Saturday, make sure that you come back with Mom on Sunday so you can treat her to a relaxing meal by the water's edge for Mother's Day. The unofficial opening to the 2016 boating season is nearly here, and we are having a hard time containing our excitement! One of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks is happening Saturday, May 7, 2016 - the 19th Annual Spring Harbor Hop. Shorty Pants Lounge and Dog Days Bar & Grill should definitely be on your top stops list. Everyone's favorite Cajun restaurant also has a couple of extra surprises planned for everyone.

Shorty Pants is Where the Fun's At!

The first card will be dealt at 11 am when we open for business, and we'll keep handing them out until 7 pm when the Harbor Hop wraps up. During that entire time, and later on that evening too, your favorite waterfront restaurant will be serving up all of your Cajun favorites. In addition to that, we've got some extra entertainment lined up for you on Saturday.

The awesome Adrian Bartholomew will be entertaining our crowds again this season. During Harbor Hop, he will be charming our customers from 2-6 pm with his entertaining mix of classic favorites and original music. You can check him out at www.bartholomusic.com.

Shorty Pants Lounge, along with our sister BBQ restaurant, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, will be a stop for the 1st Annual Crawl For The Roses at the Lake between 3-6 pm. In case you didn't know it already, this coincides with the running of the Kentucky Derby. This fun event is sponsored by Four Roses Kentucky Bourbon, and it will feature roses for the first 30 ladies, a prize for the best derby hat, and Four Roses souvenir cups. That's sure a lot of incredible stuff to be happening in one day, but we're going to do it!

Winner, Winner, Creole Chicken Dinner

Everyone that decides to try their hand at forming the best (or possibly the worst) poker hand will get the chance to win gift certificates from many of the best establishments at the Lake of the Ozarks. The total amount will be decided by the amount of $20 optional donations that are collected from each participant. This is how it will all break down:

1st Place: 10%
2nd Place: 9%
3rd Place: 8%
4th Place: 7% each
5th - 10th Place: 5% each
4 Worst Hands: 4% each
Random Drawing for 10 Hands: 2% each
(all ties will share the allocated percentage for the placing)

The Bonus
In addition to the regular prize winners, a section winner will be recognized. To be eligible to be a section winner, a player must draw all seven (7) cards within one of the four sections listed below.

Harbor Hop Rules

You may start your Harbor Hop at any one of the over 45 participating waterfront bars and restaurants. After collecting the first card for your poker hand there, you will then travel to six more stops, grabbing another card at each one. The route is your choice, anyplace on the list, in any order you feel like hopping. The final stop is where you will turn in your hand. If you aren't completely satisfied with your cards, that last stop will give you the option of buying an additional 8th card for $5.

To qualify for prizes, your poker hand must be turned in by 7 pm. Winners will be notified by mail. The Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitors Bureau retains 60% of the money collected to promote the Lake of the Ozarks. The remaining 40% will be divided among the winners in the form of gift certificates.
