The Gala of Trees
The event organizer, Christy Janssen, along with her mother, Pam Leffringhouse, got the idea for this fantastic fundraiser after decorating trees for a similar event in Quincy, Illinois. The way this Lake of the Ozarks version works is like this:
- Bare Christmas trees and wreaths are donated to the event by Lake Regional Hospital.
- Businesses and organizations volunteer to decorate the trees and wreaths with unique themes and ornaments.
- Everyone is invited to come in, view the items, and make a bid in the silent auction to take home the decorated items.
- The Lake Ozark Rotary's Candyland project and the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club take the money raised to buy Christmas gifts for local children in need.
Same Event, New Home!
Since its beginning, the Gala of Trees was hosted at Bootleggers. The closing of their restaurant offered Wobbly Boots Roadhouse the chance to take on this wonderful holiday event, and they couldn't be more excited!
The whole thing gets started on Thursday night at 5 pm with the great big kickoff party at the Boot. While participation in the silent auction throughout the gala is free, tickets for the kickoff party are $20 each. This includes appetizers and soup, one glass of Gala Punch, and the exclusive chance to win the Gala Christmas wreath that will be given away at 9 pm that evening.
All day and night, both Friday and Saturday, you are encouraged to stop by Wobbly Boots, check out the amazing decorations, and make a bid. On Saturday evening, the highest bidders will be announced. Dale Blue will be onstage Saturday evening to keep you entertained while you wait for the results. If you are a winner, then you are free to take your tree and/or wreath home and put it in a special spot for the holidays.
See you there!
All of us here at Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina will be sure to make time to stop by Wobbly Boots Roadhouse and check out the Gala of Trees, and we hope to run into many of you while we're there. After you're done making your bids, head on over to your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and join us for a bit too.
We are still open 7 days a week at 11 am, and there's plenty of seating inside when it's chilly, while the lakeside deck is still open for these unseasonably beautiful days we've been having. See you soon, and happy holidays!
