Join Us for the Warriors Against Melanoma Poker Run - Saturday, 8/13/16

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina is proud to be a part of the Warriors Against Melanoma Poker Run again this year. Not only is it a fun-filled day of excitement on the water, but also a great way to raise awareness about something that can affect all of us. Our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant is one of seven incredible stops this year. 

How To Play

All you have to do to take part in this awesome day on the lake is to check in at any of the poker run stops, which include:

• Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina
• Dog Days Bar & Grill
• Bulldog's Beach House Bar & Grill
• Larry's on the Lake
• Nautifish Rum Bar
• Paradise Tropical Bar
• Topsider Bar & Grill

A $20 donation at your first stop will get your first card along with a fact about melanoma or skin cancer. These facts not only offer valuable tips and information for your own knowledge, but if you can present them at the after-party, you will earn a free bonus card for your poker hand. That simple fact could earn your winning card, and knowing it could possibly even save a life. 

Finished poker hands can be turned in at any of the above stops before 6 pm, or at the after-party taking place at Topsider Bar & Grill at 7 pm. The top three hands will be prize winners. 

Warriors Against Melanoma (WAM)

WAM is a non-profit organization that was founded by a stage 3 melanoma survivor and is entirely run by volunteers. This group is dedicated to educating people about this dangerous skin cancer and raising money to help find effective treatments and eventually a cure. One person dies every hour, every day in the USA of melanoma. No one is immune, but there are many things that you can do to avoid being a victim. We all love being out in the sun here at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. When you head outdoors, no matter what time of the year, use the following tips to keep your skin safe.   

• Wear a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with SPF of 30 or more. Reapply it every couple of hours and also after swimming or sweating excessively. 
• Stay in the shade when possible. 
• Cover exposed skin with lightweight clothing and wear a hat to protect your scalp and face. 
• Don't burn! This greatly increases your risk of skin cancer.

We may have your winning card!

We'll have a poker station set up and ready to pass out the (possibly) winning card on Saturday! (No guarantees, but we're saying there's a chance.) While you are here, stop and enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or take a little boating break and order a plate of the best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks.
